The Effect of Computer Assisted Cognitive Rehabilitation and Neurofeedback on Brainwave and Visual Perception in Stroke
Jung Jin-Hwa

Abstract
This study investigated relative brainwave and visual perception changes in adult with stroke using neurofeedback (NFB) or computer assisted cognitive rehabilitatio, CACR. 44 participants were randomly allocated to the NFB group (n=14), the CACR group (n=14) and the control group (CON) (n=16). Two expert therapists provided all the groups with traditional rehabilitation therapy in 30-minute sessions, semi-weekly, for 6 weeks. Additionally NFB training was provided only to the NFB group and CACR training was provided only to the CACR group. The CON group received traditional rehabilitation therapy only. Before and after 6 weeks of intervention, an EEG and a motor-free visual perception test(MVPT) were performed, and the results were analyzed. This research identified the effect of NFB over as being a 50% improvement of SEF and MVPT raw scores. More rapid rehabilitation seems to be possible by applying NFB and CACR, whose concrete structure and mechanisms appear beneficial for repairing cognition damage. Also, it is considered to be necessary to the development of NFB and CACR program and to specify the research by the damaged brain.
